Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance to Juniper Communities’ philosophy and hallmarks as well as all written policies and procedures that govern the operation of the Resident Services Department.
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Connections activity program of the community in compliance with all Alive in All Seasons, resident whole person wellness and Connections mandates.
  • Develop and implement a volunteer program.
  • Plan and posts a monthly calendar of events.
  • Develop a monthly newsletter.
  • Create “brag book” or photo display of past/recent events for community display.
  • Assist in arranging and at times render transportation for the residents.
  • Assist in the coordination of effective communication among Resident Services team members, residents, and families.
  • Maintain liaison with residents and family members.
  • Make written and oral reports to the Executive Director concerning the operation of the Health and Wellness Department.
  • Plan and implement a monthly Resident Council.
  • Work in concert with other members of the Resident Services Leadership Team and Director, Community Relations to coordinate special events and programs particularly ones of interest to prospective residents and local media.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the In Touch Orientation and in service training.
  • Train Resident Associates in the implementation of Connections activity programs.
  • Ensure that all staff follows established safety regulations, including fire protection, infection control, bloodborne pathogens, hazardous waste and quality assurance procedures.
  • Assist in the coordination of health care services with other resident services to ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist in the assessment of residents to verify their appropriateness to live within the Community
  • Attend regularly scheduled wellness meetings.
  • Complete all administrative paperwork as required.
  • Manage and maintain Connections budget within established guidelines.
  • Submit recommendations to the Executive Director for budget completion, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available to meet the day to day operational needs of the Connections activities program.
  • Serve as a networking team member, as directed.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma, a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Therapeutic Recreation, Psychology, Gerontology, or other related field is preferred. Certification as Activity Professional is desired.
  • Previous management experience in healthcare or service related setting.
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license with appropriate class
  • Must have a clean driver’s record and present a professional appearance and image
  • Knowledge of all applicable governmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of the physiology and psychology of the older adult.
  • Experience in program design, planning and implementation is desired.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals within the community.
  • Attends and participates in mandated yearly training programs.
  • Must be able to manage time efficiently so as to achieve goals.
  • Adheres to all Human Resources policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
  • Respects confidentiality of information and Resident’s rights.
  • Performs job in a safe manner, using proper body mechanics, infection control, etc.
  • Responsible for proper care of all property, equipment, supplies and financial assets involved in the performance of the job.
  • Performs other duties as required.
