Responsibilities

  • Comply with Juniper Village’ philosophy and hallmarks as well as all written policies and procedures that govern the operation of Dining Services.
  • Embraces Culture Change and resident-centered philosophies that may include any time dining and resident choice.
  • Prepares or directs preparation of all foods indicated on the menu; adapting to specialty diets and altered textures as needed.
  • Follows food production schedule
  • Schedules food preparation so that items such as vegetables and grilled foods are cooked at proper times
  • Estimated food requirements and monitors portion control to eliminate waste and left-over
  • Checks all equipment and cooking area to make sure they maintain safety and sanitation requirements. Operates electric, gas, and steam equipment, kitchen utensils, juice and coffee machine, mixers and slicers.
  • Maintains a high degree of cleanliness
  • Sets up food in steam table and serves food as needed
  • May check in deliveries from various vendors
  • May place routine orders such as milk, bread.
  • Follows cleaning schedule daily.
  • Complete all assigned paperwork to meet current regulatory compliance standards.
  • Assist Dining Services Director in the coordination of effective communication among dining services staff and Wellness Associates including maintaining accuracy of diet card for each resident.
  • Assist Dining Services Director in the preparation of meals for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Assist Dining Services Director in the ordering of raw food and supplies as directed.
  • Practice proper sanitation and compliance to all Health Department regulations pertaining to food service.
  • Work closely with the Connections Director and the Social Services Director in the planning and implementation of special events.
  • Maintain necessary records and completes all administrative paperwork as required.
  • Follow established safety regulations, including fire protection, infection control, and equipment safety.
  • Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts.
  • At each meal, tours dining room requesting feedback from residents.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma and educational background in culinary arts or food service.
  • Knowledge of volume food preparation.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate all food service equipment.
  • Knowledge of all applicable governmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of the physiology and psychology of the older adults.
  • Knowledge of the dietary needs of older adults.
  • Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be able to decision make
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals within the community.
  • Attends and participates in mandated yearly training programs and all required meetings.
  • Must be able to manage time efficiently so as to achieve goals.
  • Adheres to all Human Resources policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
  • Respects confidentiality of information and Resident’s rights.
  • Perform job in a safe manner, using proper body mechanics, infection control, etc.
  • Responsible for proper care of all property, equipment, supplies and financial assets involved in the performance of the job.
  • Perform other duties as required.
